FARMER GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO RECEIVES DELEGATION OF DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS UNDER THE SPECIAL AGRO PROCESSING ZONE (SAP-Z) FROM CHINA.

***REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR AGRIC PROCESSING

Niger State Governor Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has received a delegation of development partners under the Special Agro Processing Zone SAP-Z from China at the Government House Minna.

Farmer Governor Umaru Bago who expressed gratitute to the development partners for investing in Niger State said his administration will always give them the much needed support to succeed in the State.

He said, the development partners have shown full commitment in the Special Agro Processing Zone program and has given the State Government the hope of propelling its export projection to about $1.5b from the initial evaluation of $150m.

Farmer Umaru Bago reassured the partners of the State Government’s support to the development partners and stressed that his administration will continue to involve the private sector to drive agriculture and agro processing.

He said already, the Chinese Overseas Engineering Group and the China Railway Corporation are partnering with Niger State is an indication of the State Government’s trust in China adding that the Africa Development Bank has equally sent many investors to the State.

Earlier, the Leader of the delegation and Chairman, Niger State SAPZ Company Ltd Mr. Yomi Akapo commended and appreciated Farmer Umaru Bago for always giving investors the opportunity to invest in Niger State through provision of conducive environment and described China as a hub of investors that are willing to contribute to the growth and development of Niger State.

The Managing Director, of COVEC Nigeria Ltd, Ma Zhengyiun said the company would engage in advancing SAZP projects in the area of
Agriculture, mining and financial sectors of the state.

While commending the State Government for the support so far the Managing Director
expressed confidence noting that the joint effort between the state government and the company, the Niger state SAPZ will become a premium agricultural development area as well as a critical supply source of agricultural products in the whole of the country.

The team is also expected to visit the Flour Mills of Nigeria, farm in Mokwa, Minna Airport green house project and Lapai and Tungan Kawo SAPZ Program among other sites.
