The event, which took place at the elegant Amani Event Center, was hosted by his wife, Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, a respected academic in her own right.

The ceremony was organized to celebrate the achievements of the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, who has led Bayero University with dedication and vision, spearheading several academic reforms and infrastructural developments during his tenure. Simultaneously, the event served as a formal welcome for the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa, whose appointment marks a new chapter for the university. Known for his extensive academic credentials and administrative experience, Prof. Musa was warmly received by colleagues, students, and stakeholders alike, who expressed optimism about his ability to build on his predecessor’s legacy.

The gathering attracted a host of dignitaries, including university officials, prominent academics, government representatives, and community leaders. The atmosphere was one of celebration and hope, underscoring the importance of leadership continuity in advancing higher education in Nigeria.

In his remarks, Dr. Ganduje highlighted the critical role universities play in national development and stressed the importance of stable and visionary leadership in academic institutions. He commended both the outgoing and incoming vice chancellors for their commitment to education and expressed his confidence that Bayero University would continue to thrive under Professor Musa’s guidance.

Professor Hafsat Ganduje, the event host, also emphasized the power of education to transform societies and thanked all those who contributed to the university’s progress. Her role in organizing the ceremony was widely appreciated, symbolizing the strong partnership between governance, academia, and community engagement.

The recognition ceremony not only marked a respectful send-off for Professor Abbas but also ignited enthusiasm for the future direction of Bayero University under Professor Musa’s stewardship. It was a memorable occasion that highlighted the values of leadership, service, and academic excellence.
