As Mentors Club Holds Annual Lecture, Award Ceremony in Okene

The former Director-General, National Productivity Centre, NPC, Dr Kashim Akor NPOM, FNIM has advocated the continuous promotion of Capacity Building and mentorship especially among the youths for accelerated development of our nation.
He made the statement in a lecture delivered as Chairman of the occasion at the annual lecture and award ceremony of the Mentors Club, Nigeria held at Okene in Kogi state .
Akor at the occasion stated that for three decades of his life and eight years at the helms of affairs of the National Productivity Centre, NPC, as Director General, he had embraced and adopted capacity building and mentorship towards having a productive and rewarding future.
He said Mentorship offers short cut through someone else experiences , allowing one to absorb the wisdom they earned through trial and error, as well as persistence.
The former Director General said he shared in the vision, aims and objectives of the club , hence the decision to identify with the leaders of the association.
While advising politicians to desist from sowing political discord and disunity between Kogi Central and Kogi East to earn personal political goals , he advocated interactions at all levels between the people of the two Senatorial Districts to promote friendship and unity.
Two papers were presented at the event viz
“Transformational leadership and the quest for self -sustainability in Kogi Central.” and “Drug and Substance Abuse; It’s effects on the society (The Kogi Central )”.
The Lecture was attended by members of the club, Traditional Rulers and political leaders as well as the youths and students .
The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of award to prominent Nigerians who had contributed to the growth and development of Ebira land.
