Forum seeks partnership with Kogi State govt. To promote voter education

A non Governmental organization, Voters Enlightenment Forum (VEF), has called on the Kogi State Government to partner with the organization to promote voter sensitization and advocacy.

In a letter addressed to the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, signed by Hon. Danladi Ibrahim and Idoko Akpa, Coordinator and Secretary respectively, said the aim of the organization is to assist Kogi voters in understanding the election process, voter education, raising political awareness, organizing and mobilization.

“The aim is to build and raise public, critical consciousness. It is also intended to increase further collaboration in the area of Voter’s right and advocacy.

The group listed the challenges often faced by electorates to include; lack of awareness, unfamiliarity with the registration process, importance of Voter’s card, registration barriers, difficulty in accessing registration locations, meeting requirements or getting time off to register.

Others they said includes; lack of interest or apathy, saying that so many others may loose interest in voting as they do not consider it as relevant or impactful to their lives, among other challenges.

The group emphasized that these are among the challenges the partnership seeks to address.

The group also seek to pay a courtesy visit to the Governor to brief him on the project and prayed God to give the Governor the wisdom and strength to pilot the Affairs of the exalted office.
