Gale of defection hit opposition camp as APC holds Ward Rally at Ankpa Local Government

As the November 11 Governorship election in Kogi State draws closer, opposition parties continue to lose strength by the day as the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC witnessed gale of defections.
This was witnessed on Friday 3rd November, 2023 during the Ward to Ward rally of the APC held at Enjema in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi state as the party received defectors from Social Democratic Party, SDP; Nigeria National Peoples Party, NNPP; Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Labour Party, LP.
The decampees numbering in hundreds were received by the leadership of the APC in the area including the Direction Research and Planning for Kogi APC Governorship Campaign Council, Dr. Salisu Usman Ogbo.
The ward to ward rally that was primarily organized to drum more support for the APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman (OAU).
The ward rally spanned through Enjema Wards 001 to 004 in Ankpa LGA saw party loyalists, new defectors reaffirming their loyalty and support for the ruling party.
Addressing the electorates in Enjema Ward 002, Dr. Ogbo admonished party faithfuls across various units in Ankpa to come out en–mass on November 11th to demonstrate their numerical strength at the poll, adding that the summation of the polling unit results will place the ward higher amidst other APC wards in Kogi State.
He tasked everyone to work beyond their Polling Units to ensure all-round victory for the party.
Whilst suing for more commitment for APC candidates, Dr. Ogbo charged members of the APC to disown any parochial sentiments being propagated by any political parties that have ‘No representations at the center and State level’ – saying it’s emotionally driven to truncate the needed development that comes with continuity and consolidation which the APC candidate represent.
He equally urged electorates to deepen their commitment in mobilising voters to ensure APC deliver bulk votes in appreciation of all the good work of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.
Speaking also, the Executive Chairman of the Ankpa LGA, Hon. Ibrahim Abagwu thanked the people of the Area for standing by the party, noting that APC has the structure and remain the party to consolidate on the gains and achievements of His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.
Other speakers at the rally who expressed confidence in Alhaji Ododo’s ability to deliver credible governance includes Deputy Majority Leader, House of Representatives, Hon. Abdullahi Halims, Former Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Alh. Rabiu Alfa Isiaka; Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Honorable Idris Musa Oando, SSA Women Mobilization, Hon. Princess Maryam Muazu amongst others.
Earlier, the various ward chairmen at their respective wards appreciated all the leaders of the party for the support granted to the party which they said has resulted in the smooth running of all party’s affairs and have called for commitment for the overwhelming victory of Alhaji Ododo candidacy.
They added that, the large turnout of the people in the four wards visited has ascertained that all opposition parties have had to embrace natural extinction.
Highlight of the Ward – to – Ward rally captured the official welcoming of new entrants drawn from following SDP, NNPP, LP and PDP into the winning APC political family.
