Governor Mai Mala Buni CON of Yobe State has reaffirmed his commitment to empowering women economically, pledging new self-reliance programs to uplift women across the state.

Speaking in Damaturu while receiving APC Women representatives from Potiskum Local Government Area, Governor Buni encouraged women to engage in economic ventures to improve their financial well-being. He revealed plans to introduce special support packages aimed at promoting self-sufficiency among women.

During the visit, Governor Buni presented deep freezers to each of the women as part of the government’s initiative to boost their businesses. He urged them to utilize the resources responsibly and not to sell the items, stressing that similar gestures will be extended to other women groups across the 17 local government areas.

The Governor also addressed issues with the state’s agricultural empowerment program, where some beneficiaries sold off equipment meant for economic development. He warned that stricter measures, including the requirement of guarantors, will be enforced for future interventions to prevent such occurrences.

Governor Buni further emphasized the importance of loyalty to the APC, urging women to prioritize the party’s interests over individuals, as the party remains supreme. He assured continuous government engagement with women groups to address their challenges and ensure their full inclusion in state affairs.
