They applauded the determined efforts Nwifuru to develop the airport and the State, in general, and pledged to deliver quality jobs at the airport.

The Commissioner for Aviation and Transport Technology, Mrs Ngozi Obichukwu who spoke to newsmen shortly after the three-hour close- door meeting with the Governor, said that the contractors are committed to deliver quality jobs at the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport.

She said that the contractors handling various contracts at the airport are courageous and committed in delivery quality jobs, especially the runway that is nearing completion.

“I came here with contractors at the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport to familiarize with the Governor, Francis Nwifuru, and also to appreciate him, and not to beg for money. We came to tell him (Nwifuru) that we (contractors) are happy with him and the good works he is doing in the State.

“Secondly, we came to appreciate him because he has been wearing the shoes of a contractor, even before he became Speaker and now Governor. He knows where the shoes have been pinching these contractors. We are happy to tell him, that the contractors both the indigenous and foreign contractors are so happy with the good works he is doing at the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, Onueke Ezza South L.G.A.

Obichukwu noted that contractors at the airport are not among the contractors that were allegedly blacklisted by the State government for not performing well.

“To the glory of God, non of the contractors at the Chuba Okadigbo International airport is blacklisted and the Governor, Francis Nwifuru is happy with them. This is because of the genuine work and commitment to ensure that the airport becomes the best and befitting international airport of Ebonyi State. And so, non of the contractors at the Chuba Okadigbo international airport is blacklisted and non will ever be blacklisted.

“The Governor, Francis Nwifuru is very passionate about the completion of the Chuba Okadigbo airport runway within the Stipulated period, even though, we had little challenges over the dollar issue and the exchange rate. But with him (Nwifuru) as a builder, he has known and he is trying to ensure that we don’t miss the target of delivering the runway at the shortest possible time” she stated.
