The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria in Kaduna State, has won an award as the best Aviation Training Institution in the World with the highest number of trained instructors.

The Award was bestowed on the College on Wednesday, 31st May, 2023 at the on-going

2023 ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS) holding in Seoul, South Korea.

The Symposium with the theme “Working Together for an Innovative and Sustainable Global Aviation Community “was organised by ICAO in collaboration with the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The Symposium, which is merged with the ICAO’s World Aviation Forum (IWAF), Global Aviation Cooperation Symposium (GACS) and Global Aviation Training and TRAINAIR PLUS Symposium provided ICAO’s Member States the opportunities of having comprehensive panel discussions with various aviation experts; bilateral meetings with ICAO on Implementation Support activities; and a diverse exhibition of the latest industry products and services.

In addition, it further provided the opportunity to address the implementation of key priorities and agreed actions from the 41st Session of the ICAO Assembly, including capacity building for Member States and achieving net zero carbon emissions for the aviation industry by 2050.

As part of the side events, individuals and institutions around the globe, who were assessed by ICAO to have performed extremely well in advancing Civil Aviation in certain measurable ways were given awards.

NCAT was given recognition for being the best Aviation Institution in the World with the highest number of trained instructors.

It should be noted that the College had won several awards and recognitions from ICAO and other international bodies in the past on account of its rating in producing the necessary manpower for the aviation industry.

In view of that, some African countries are seeking strategic partnerships and collaboration with the College in the area of training of their citizens in aeronautical trainining and other adjunct courses in aviation.

It should be noted that the award was a further testament of the positive development in the Aviation Industry in Nigeria under the able leadership of the immediate past Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Senator Hadi Abubakar Sirika, CFR.

The Rector of the College, Capt. Alkali Modibbo was present to receive the award and was ably supported by the Director of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace, Mr. Hassan Ejibunu.
