Governor Muftwang Speaks on Dumping PDP for APC: A Firm Denial of Defection Rumors.

In the face of growing rumors about his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Plateau State Governor Caleb Muftwang has vehemently denied the claims, calling them a fabrication by mischief makers.

The Governor, in a statement released Thursday by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, expressed his unwavering commitment to the PDP, the party that he believes gave him the mandate to lead Plateau State. He clarified that the rumors circulating on social media were false, describing them as deliberate attempts to cause confusion and divide the people of the state.

These rumors gained momentum, especially following a doctored image that showed Muftwang allegedly alongside APC governors, purportedly preparing to welcome President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Edo State. Governor Muftwang was quick to discredit the image, labeling it a “fake” and part of a broader campaign to undermine his loyalty to the PDP.

“Let me make it clear once again,” Governor Muftwang emphasized in the statement, “I have never, at any point, considered leaving the PDP. The story making the rounds is a lie crafted by those who wish to create division and sow distrust in my political allegiance.”

The Governor took a strong stance against those behind the rumors, condemning them for trying to mislead the public and sow division within his administration and the PDP. “These are the actions of mischief makers and agents of confusion,” he said. “They have failed in their attempt to confuse the people of Plateau State and distract me from my primary mission of delivering good governance.”

Reaffirming his loyalty to the PDP, Muftwang also took the opportunity to reassure party members across Plateau State and the broader North Central region. He urged them to remain steadfast and continue their support for the PDP as it works toward resolving any challenges within the party. The Governor confirmed that ongoing consultations with critical stakeholders are aimed at addressing issues affecting the party’s unity in the region.

Despite these baseless rumors, Governor Muftwang remains committed to collaborating with the Federal Government, led by President Bola Tinubu, for the benefit of Plateau State’s development. “While my allegiance to the PDP remains firm, I am fully committed to working with the Federal Government to ensure that the people of Plateau State benefit from all the developmental opportunities that the government offers.”

Governor Muftwang’s clarification has helped put to rest the false rumors about his defection, and his message of unity within the PDP in Plateau State is one that reassures his supporters and strengthens his position as a leader dedicated to the state’s progress.
