Governor Ododo bids a final farewell to the former Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi (Rtd).
The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, was among the dignitaries who paid their last respects to the late Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi (Rtd), former Chief of Defence Staff, who passed away in the early hours of Sunday, June 30, 2024.
Represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, the Governor received the remains of the deceased in the State Capital, Lokoja, and escorted him to his country home in Okura, Dekina Local Government Area, where he was laid to rest.
Speaking to the press after the burial, Governor Ododo expressed that the state had lost a remarkable figure. He lauded the late Military chief as a unifying figure who made significant contributions to the unity and advancement of Nigeria and particularly Kogi State.
The Governor recognized the invaluable role played by the deceased in the state’s formation, the establishment of the Naval Base in Banda, and the setting up of the Nigeria Navy Secondary School in Okura, among other vital contributions to the state’s development.
Governor Ododo prayed for eternal peace for the deceased and for the people of the state to find the strength to cope with the irreplaceable loss.
Accompanying the Governor were the State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omodara (Rtd); the Honorable Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. Sunday Anyebe; the Director General of Kogi State Community Watch and Ancillary Matters, Hon Muhammed Nasiru Alfa; the Kogi East Acting Zonal Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Omika Suleman Muhammed; and the nine caretaker committee chairmen in Kogi East, among others.
