The Northern Youth Assembly (NYA), Bauchi State chapter, has strongly condemned the recent allegations made by Governor Bala Mohammed against Senator Shehu Buba Umar, accusing the senator of involvement in banditry. In a statement signed by the acting chairman, Comrade Mohammed Husaini, the group described the accusations as an unfounded attempt to tarnish the reputation of Senator Shehu Buba, attributing them to the governor’s political insecurities.
The statement highlighted that these allegations are part of an ongoing political feud, as Senator Shehu Buba, representing the Bauchi South Senatorial District, poses a significant challenge to Governor Bala Mohammed.
The NYA emphasized that the senator has not retaliated against these attacks, demonstrating political maturity and restraint.
Moreover, the group called on security agencies, particularly the Department of State Services (DSS), to carefully evaluate the governor’s claims. They underscored Senator Shehu Buba’s prominent role as the chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, making it implausible that he would engage with criminal elements, given his notable contributions to national security.
The NYA further urged an investigation into Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration, focusing on alleged irregularities in contract awards and financial misconduct.
In their closing remarks, the Assembly reaffirmed their commitment to defending the integrity and reputation of Senator Shehu Buba Umar, standing firm against what they see as politically motivated attacks.
