Gunmen kidnap 5 People in Kabba-Bunu, 2 brothers in Kabba, 2 family members including 8 yr -old in Bunu

…Demands 10, 50 million naira ransom respectively

Unknown gunmen have adopted five people in different locations within Kabba-Bunu local government area of Kogi State.

The incident which occured over a week ago precisely on Monday, 28th November, 2024 in the afternoon where two brothers named Chief Dare Olowosegun Obafanyo and Mr Bareke Job, former chairman of Re-wire Technician Association in Kabba-Bunu were adopted on their family land located in Aluju in Kakun community.

In another development Joshua Aiyegboka, Miss Tope Aiyegboka , an 8- year old Olorunmowaju Victory were kidnapped almost the same day opposite the Secondary School in Odo-Ape in Bunu district at about 11:40pm in the evening.

According to information made available to newsmen in Lokoja, the kidnappers have since contacted their families for ransoms to be paid before they are released.

Jerome Bareke speaking on behalf of the family appealed to the government and security agencies to help rescue their family members who have remained in their den for more than eight days, stressing that they first demanded for fifteen (15) million naira ransom but have reduced it to ten (10) million naira as at last time they called while the ones kidnapped in Odo-Ape are demanding fifty (50) million naira ransom for them to regain their freedom.

It was also reported over the weekend that a popular commercial transport company GIGM was ambushed by gunmen between Obajana and Lokoja road and kidnapped all the passengers onboard and are now demanding for 100m ransom before they are set free.

“One passenger, a friend of a concerned X user, is among the abductees and the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N100 million for her release. The X user took to social media to plead for assistance in securing her friend’s safe return.
