GYB committed to Jamata-Asawa-Budon-Kupa Road Project, Kogi Assembly Speaker Assures Stakeholders

26th August, 2023

The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf has assured stakeholders in his state constituency, Lokoja II, of the genuine commitment of the current administration of Governor Yahaya Bello to the construction ofJamata-Asawa-Budon-Kupa Road project because of its importance to the socioeconomic development of the area.

The Speaker stated this in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed, when he hosted the leaders of Kupa Development Association (KUDA) in Lokoja.

Rt Hon Yusuf said being a son of the area, he is committed to ensuring the realisation of that project, even if that is the only thing he would achieve in his four year tenure as the speaker or a legislator in the Assembly.

He noted that the project forms one of the cardinal objectives of his representation of the area, and assured his guests that he had repeatedly discussed the matter with the Governor who has assured him of his resolve to have the project constructed or commenced before the end of his tenure.

The Speaker stated that he understands the problem of dearth of development in his constituency, including areas such as education, health and human empowerment.

He revealed his sponsorship of some students to the State College of Health to provide human capital that would attend to the healthcare needs of his people, noting that efforts are also on to intervene in the education sector through sponsorship to Colleges of Education and the Nigerian Korean Friendship Institute to equip interested young persons in the acquisition of vocational knowledge for self reliance.

The Speaker, who appealed to the stakeholders on the need to repeat their mobilisation efforts during his election in the November 11 gubernatorial election, said it was only through convincing results at the polls that he would be encouraged to do more for the people of the area and the state in general.

He used the occasion to announce the constitution of an advisory committee comprising people of proven integrity and leadership capacity to advise him on project sighting and governance in general, with Presidents of Associations in the Wards that make up Lokoja II, and others, as members.

In their addresses, leaders and members of Kupa Development Association all applauded the developmental strides of the speaker so far, and pledged their commitment to working with his office for the development of the area.
