GYB REITERATES PASSION ON MAINTAINING PEACE,UNITY IN KOGI STATE.
The Governor of Kogi State,Alh.Yahaya Bello has reiterated his passion towards ensuring peace and unity in Kogi State.
The Governor represented by the Commissioner for Education,Science and Technology,Hon Wemi Jones made the statement at the 32nd Annual Lecture Series of The Nigerian Post titled ‘Sustaining Peace,Unity of Kogi State,This House Must Not Fall’held in the reception hall of Edge Drive Hotel,Lokoja.
Speaking further,GYB congratulated the publisher Mike Abu for his balanced reporting adding that the title was apt as the state is approaching the Gubernatorial Elections,describing Mike Abu as a forthright Journalist appealing to the people to support the Nigerian Post.
The Governor pointed out that the EBIGO project of his New Direction Administration has ensured that the three Senatorial Districts are benefitting from his developmental projects disclosing that principal offices in tertiary institutions are shared among the Senatorial Districts.
He continued that GYB model schools have been established in all the Senatorial Districts affirming that standard hospitals have been established across the Senatorial Districts.
Speaking further,GYB said the same balance applied to agriculture,roads construction and rehabilitation,security adding that the balance in projects had fostered peace and unity in Kogi State.
The Commissioner for Information and Communications,Hon Kingsley Fanwo represented by the Permanent Secretary Mr Teddy Adegbola described the establishment of CUSTEC Osara and KSUK Kabba as a rare feat enthusing that it has balanced the presence of universities in the three Senatorial Districts.
The Guest Speaker Professor Olayemi Akinwumi represented by Professor Abdullahi Yusuf enjoined the people to eschew communal clashes,maximise the use of our environmental resources to attract massive direct foreign investment,invest in the security of lives and property and encourage harmonious existence calling on the people to collaborate for the continuous peace and unity of Kogi State.
The State Security Adviser Cdr Jerry Omodara(Rtd)maintained that a lot had been achieved stressing that nothing can be done without adequate security and commended the Governor for establishing the Neighborhood Watch adding that the state has identified the geographical location of crime and has taken the necessary action.
The representative of Ohimegye Igu Alh Abdulrazaq Isa Koto,Dr Shuaib Oricha DG Government House Administration, Accountant General of Kogi State Alh Jubril Momoh, in their different goodwill messages called on the people to see Kogi State as the project of everyone appealing for peace and cohesion in the state.
Earlier,the Publisher,Mike Abu in his welcome address called on the people to positively contribute to the political development of Kogi State in order to engender peace,stability and cohesion appreciating the dignitaries that attended the programme.
Highlight was the presentation of awards of excellence to the recipients.
