Hon Abang pays tribute to predecessor, late Chris Agibe

The parliamentarian representing the people of Boki/Ikom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives at the National Assembly, Hon Victor Abang, has paid a glowing tribute to his predecessor in office, the late Hon Chris Agibe.

Hon. Agibe, who was said to have served at different times as Commissioner for Agriculture, Finance, and Works in Cross River State, and represented Boki/Ikom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, died in May this year.

In his tribute titled: ‘Honouring the Life and Legacy of Ntol Hon. Chris Agibe’, Hon Abang said: “Today, we gather in Alok Community, Ikom Local Government Area, to mourn the passing of Ntol Hon. Chris Agibe, whose death occurred on the 19th of May, 2025.

“The late Hon. Agibe, my predecessor in the House of Representatives, was a rare gem. His leadership brought hope and smiles to our people, and his service left a lasting, progressive impact on our community.

“Hon. Agibe dedicated over three decades of his life to public service and was a relentless advocate for positive change in our constituency. A true gentleman, he served with quiet strength and a deep sense of responsibility, always striving to move our people closer to meaningful development. His death leaves a painful void in our homeland.

“As we mourn his passing, we are reminded that death is not merely the end, but a transition into eternal glory. For those of us still living, the best way to honour his memory is to live lives of purpose—touching others and continuing the work he so passionately began.

“On behalf of the good people of Boki/Ikom, whom he served with distinction, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his surviving family. “We pray for the peaceful repose of his soul and look forward to the day we are reunited in our final home of glory.”
