Hon. Abejide Launches Disbursement of 100M Business Loan Scheme For Women.
The member representing Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro Federal Constituency and the Chairman House Committee on Customs & Excise, Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide has launched the second phase of the women cooperatives society loan scheme for women in Yagba Federal.
The 100M women business loan empowerment is a non-interest loan for women in business through Leke Abejide Foundation. The non- interest loan initiative is targeted to provide financial solutions and empowerment to women in Nano businesses, Small Enterprises and entrepreneurs across the constituency.
Speaking during the launching and disbursement, the President of LAF Co-operative, Thrift and Credit Union Limited, Chief Mrs Ebun Joel explained that the scheme was designed to give opportunities to Nano business women to grow and alleviate poverty through access to a non-interest loan.
She appreciated, Hon. Leke Abejide for making the sum of 100M available for the seleccted cooperative societies across Yagba Federal, she further stated that the selected cooperative societies partaking in the program were selected based on previous existence, while the beneficiaries through the cooperative societies were selected by the cooperative and not based on political involvement.
The Chairman Board of Director the LAF Cooperative, Thrift and Credit Union Elder S. F Ibiteye said the 100M is an interest free loan.
While speaking he stated that,”The money is not political money, Hon. Leke gave a 100M and said he does not need any interest on the money”.
Hon. Shola Adebola, the Director General Leke Abejide Foundation, commended the efforts of Hon. Leke for kick starting the second phase of the initiative, recall, that in 2014 Hon. Leke Abejide disbursed the total sum of twelve million to two hundred and fifty women in Yagba for business and today he has fulfilled part of his campaign promises to nano businesses through a non-interest loan.
Hon. Leke Abejide during his speech at the official disbursement of the second phase of the LAF loan stated that a large crowd is not needed to avoid stamped. We only selected cooperative societies that is targeted to provide loans to nano and micro-businesses stating that the fund has been available for the past five months, but to ensure that the arrangement are made perfect, we decided to officially commission the loan disbursement today after thorough arrangements to meet requirements need.
Hon. Leke Abejide as well launched the that distribution of food items in all the polling units across the 34 wards in Yagba Federal, we have decided to do that so that our people will benefit and we are using the result of the last House of Representatives election and that of President Tinubu to distribute the food items.
“Although, I’ve been asked why I am doing this, why not wait till another election time just as other are doing during elections so that we will use food items to buy votes? But I’ve decided to share the food items so that our people can feel the impact of stomach infrastructure. This is does not stop the widows empowerment we have been doing which includes food items, clothing materials and others.
“I will continue to empower the people, as we will kick off the farmers loan scheme soon”, he said.
Hon. Leke Abejide presented the draft to the cooperatives in Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro cooperatives for disbursement to start immediately.
