Hon. Bichi Donates ₦100 Million to Family of Late Lawmaker.

By Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu, Democracy Newsline Northern Bureau Chief
April 14, 2026.

In a remarkable act of compassion and solidarity, Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi, Member representing Bichi Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, has donated the sum of ₦100,000,000 (One Hundred Million Naira) to the family of the late Muhammad Danjuma Hassan.

The donation was announced during a condolence visit led by Hon. Bichi alongside members of the House Committee on Appropriations to the residence of the deceased lawmaker. The visit reflected a deep sense of unity and shared grief among colleagues in the National Assembly, as they gathered to honour the memory of a man widely regarded as a devoted public servant and seasoned legal practitioner.

Late Hon. Barrister Muhammad Danjuma Hassan, who represented Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency of Kano State, passed away last Friday night in Abuja at the age of 62 after a prolonged illness. His death has been described as a significant loss not only to his constituency but also to the nation at large, where he contributed meaningfully to legislative discourse and democratic development.

He is survived by three wives and 18 children, a large and close-knit family now faced with the painful reality of his absence. Friends and associates say his life was defined by service, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people.

Speaking during the condolence visit, Hon. Bichi paid tribute to the late lawmaker, describing him as “a brother, a colleague, and a patriot whose dedication to duty and integrity in service will continue to inspire generations.” He noted that Hon. Hassan’s contributions, particularly in advocating for the needs of his constituents, would remain a lasting legacy.

Colleagues who accompanied the delegation recalled his calm disposition, depth of legal knowledge, and ability to foster consensus during legislative engagements. Many described him as a bridge-builder who placed national interest above personal or political considerations.

Prayers were offered during the visit, with supplications made to Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, shower him with mercy, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. The atmosphere was solemn and reflective, as those present joined the family in mourning a life devoted to public good.

In what observers have described as an extraordinary gesture, Hon. Bichi’s donation of ₦100 million is expected to provide substantial support to the bereaved family, helping to cushion the immediate and long-term challenges following the loss of their breadwinner.

The act has been widely commended as a demonstration of empathy and responsible leadership.
Community leaders and constituents from Dawakin Kudu/Warawa have continued to pay glowing tributes to the late lawmaker, highlighting his role in championing development initiatives, promoting education, and advocating for improved infrastructure across the constituency. His legacy, they say, will endure through the lives he touched and the progress he helped to achieve.

As tributes continue to pour in from across the country, the life and service of Hon. Muhammad Danjuma Hassan stand as a testament to dedication, sacrifice, and the enduring value of selfless leadership.
May Almighty Allah grant him eternal rest, comfort his family, strengthen his colleagues, and bring solace to the people of Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency. Amin.
