How safe is Kogi State now? – Executive Director, CHRCR
The recent development of killing and kidnapping in Kogi State is worrisome and condemnable, we call on relevant authorities particularly the security services, to put machinery in place to curb this ugly and avoidable occurrence.
Security is everyone responsibilities, by the proximity of the state made it vulnerable to crimes and criminalities, there must be cooperation and collaboration amongst presidents and relevant security services.
We call on traditional rulers and its institutions to take inventory of visitors to their various domains to know who’s doing what at a particular time.
Allocation and sales of land to visitors should be properly checked. Various local government Administration should organize various Town Hall meetings on security and form synergy among themselves.
We call on State government to review it security strategies in the face of current development in the state as violent extremism is gaining momentum.
We call on the citizens to provide timely and accurate information to the relevant security services in the state. We send our condolences to the family of those who lost their lives as a result of these unfortunate development.
