Idrufem, Braimo to Sponsor Second Edition of BSU–Olu Obafemi Scholarship Award Program
The Bunu Students Union (BSU) proudly announces the second edition of the BSU–Olu Obafemi Scholarship Award Program, with Hon. (Dr.) Idris Olorunfemi Rufus and His Excellency Otunba Olayinka Braimo playing key sponsorship and leadership roles in advancing this noble educational initiative.
The scholarship program, instituted in honour of Prof. Emeritus Olu Obafemi, FNAL, NNOM, is designed to promote academic excellence, intellectual growth, and educational empowerment among Bunu students in tertiary institutions.
Prof. Obafemi, a globally acclaimed literary scholar and cultural icon, remains a shining example of what education can achieve in shaping individuals and transforming societies. His timeless assertion that “Education is the bedrock of civilization, the spring of knowledge and the source of good citizenship” continues to serve as the philosophical foundation of this initiative.
Hon. (Dr.) Idris Olorunfemi Rufus stands as Chief Sponsor of the second edition, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to youth development and the advancement of learning. His participation reflects a practical understanding that sustainable community progress depends on deliberate investment in education and human capital development.
His Excellency Otunba Olayinka Braimo, who served as Chief Sponsor of the maiden edition, continues his involvement as Chairman of the BSU–Olu Obafemi Scholarship Award Board. His leadership ensures continuity, structure, and accountability in the administration of the program, reinforcing the importance of institutional stability in educational interventions.
The initiative is further strengthened by the guidance of Prof. Omoga MNG, BSU Grand Patron, and Prof. Rowland Kayode, Chairman of BSU-ETF, whose academic experience and mentorship add depth and credibility to the program. The scholarship is being coordinated under the leadership of Comrade Ayegboka Daniel, BSU National President, in collaboration with the 65th and 66th BSU National Executive Council, Full National Secretariat.
The BSU–Olu Obafemi Scholarship Award Program goes beyond financial assistance. It is a structured effort to inspire excellence, reduce educational barriers, and encourage a culture where merit, discipline, and knowledge are celebrated. By supporting deserving students, the Union seeks to nurture responsible leaders who will contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Bunu land and beyond.
