IDRUFEM Welcomes Over 2,000 Decampees to ADC in Okebukun Ward, ….Expects Over 40,000 Across Kabba/BUNU/Ijumu Federal Constituency

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has recorded a major political boost in Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency as Dr. Idris Rufus Oluwafemi (IDRUFEM), ADC stalwart and aspirant for the 2027 Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat, alongside other ADC leaders, welcomed over 2,000 decampees from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Action Alliance (AA), Labour Party (LP), and other political parties.

The historic defection ceremony took place at Okebukun Ward, where party faithful, community leaders, youths, and supporters gathered to witness what many described as a defining moment in the political realignment of the constituency.

Addressing the decampees, IDRUFEM, in his goodwill message, warmly welcomed them into the ADC family, describing their decision as a bold and patriotic step toward people-oriented governance.

“Your decision to join the party of the people is a welcome development. The handshake symbol of our great party represents fellowship, unity, and oneness. I warmly welcome you all to the ADC,” he said.

Dr. IDRUFEM further called on constituents across the 30 wards of Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency who are yet to join the ADC to seize the opportunity presented by the party’s ongoing nationwide membership drive across the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.

“This is the time to rise and shine. As part of our membership registration process, we will be receiving thousands more people from across the 30 wards in Kabba, Bunu, and Ijumu, Kogi West, and the entire state,” he added. Speaking at the event, the ADC Chairman in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area described the mass defection as timely and strategic, noting that democracy thrives on numbers and collective participation.

“Their decision to join the ADC at this time is most welcome. Democracy is a game of numbers, and our doors remain open to more members. We look forward to receiving others from across the wards in Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Kogi West, and indeed the entire Confluence State during our forthcoming mega events,” the chairman stated.

Several other party leaders and stakeholders who spoke at the occasion echoed similar sentiments, expressing confidence that the ADC is steadily emerging as the preferred platform for genuine political change, people-driven leadership, and sustainable development in Kogi State.

Hon. Sunday Aledare (Orji) stated that the majority of the decampees made the bold move to join the ADC in order to fully support the actualisation of the IDRUFEM for REP Movement. He described IDRUFEM as a true Bunu son, a brother, a community developer, a friend of the masses, and a people-centred leader.

The ceremony was graced by notable personalities across political divides, including Hon. Martins Joseph and Hon. Peter Akefe (Akefson), who urged the people of Bunu to take full advantage of the Bunu Lokan era by rallying massive support for IDRUFEM’s House of Representatives aspiration. Other prominent attendees included Mr. Gbenga Arowolo, Mr. Omoseyin Joseph (Vice Chairman, Okebukun PDP), Hon. Gbenga Idris of PDP Aherin and former councillorship candidate, Mr. Gbenga Kafaru (APA), and High Chief Obafemi Olu Jonah, the Obaolo of Apa, among others.

The event ended on a note of optimism, unity, and renewed commitment to strengthening the ADC as a formidable political force ahead of the 2027 general elections.
