Igalamela Odolu local Government Caretaker Chairman Flags off Distribution of 1,200 Bags of Rice as Palliatives

The Caretaker Chairman, Igalamela Odolu LGA, Hon. Barr Chief COSMAS ILEMONA ATABOR CIA has flagged off the distribution of 1,200 bags of 50kg rice palliatives to citizens of the Local Government Area.

The event, which took place on Friday, was in line with the promise made by the Kogi State Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo (OAU) to ensure the immediate distribution of the palliatives to cushion the harsh realities of the nation’s economy by the removal of the fuel subsidy and market inflation.

The Chairman acknowledged that the palliatives were sent to the local government area by the state government.

The target is to distribute 1,200 bags of 50kg rice across the 10 ward’s and all the polling units in Igalamela Odolu Local Government.

The chairman warned unequivocally that any polling unit with any reports of misappropriation, diversions and hoarding of all the items will face a great consequence of unpardonable offences.

We don’t want a repeat of all the irregularities that happened with the previous ways of sharing our palliatives in the local government area,” the chairman stated.

Hon. Cosmas noted that a committee made up of eminent men and women of distinguished character has been set up to oversee the distribution of the palliatives across all wards and we believe they will ensure that the palliative distribution is effectively, efficiently and transparently implemented.

Hon. Cosmas while commending His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for conceptualizing the programme to cushion the effect of the hardship, said that his administration has classified the various interventions of the Governor, which his administration has domesticated into the immediate, medium and long terms.

Earlier in their separate remarks, the Local Government Area Secretary, Hon. Sarah Giwa commended Governor Ododo for his open-door policy.

In an interview, Hon. Ochidi Alilu , LGA APC party chairman appreciated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the rice palliative given to them, noting that such programs would help the people of the local government area to continue to support his purposeful leadership…
