The lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, has formally announced the receipt of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s acknowledgement letter recognizing him as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Kogi West Senatorial District in the 2027 General Election.
The development officially confirms his candidature on the platform of the ruling party, setting the stage for what is expected to be a keenly contested senatorial race in Kogi West.
Reacting to the confirmation, Senator Karimi expressed profound gratitude to God and appreciated the people of Kogi West for their unwavering confidence, solidarity, and support throughout the nomination process.
The senator described the recognition as a victory for all stakeholders, regardless of political affiliation, reiterating his earlier message of reconciliation with the declaration that there should be “no victor and no vanquished.”
According to him, the moment calls for healing, rebuilding relationships, and fostering greater unity among party members and supporters as preparations intensify for the 2027 general election.
“This victory belongs to all of us, including non-APC members. This is the time for rebuilding relationships and working together as a formidable unit for the task ahead to deliver victory for Mr. President and all APC candidates,” Karimi stated.
He further emphasized his commitment to inclusive leadership, assuring the people that he remains accessible and willing to work with everyone in the collective interest of Kogi West and the progress of the APC.
“I am for everyone and I am ready to work with everybody. I am humbled and grateful to God and all lovers of democracy, particularly in Kogi West, for your trust, solidarity, and support,” he added.
Political observers believe the senator’s conciliatory message is aimed at consolidating the APC’s support base across the seven local government areas of Kogi West, while strengthening internal cohesion ahead of the 2027 polls.
With the official acknowledgment from INEC now secured, Senator Karimi is expected to intensify consultations and grassroots engagements as the APC prepares for the forthcoming general election, where the party hopes to retain the Kogi West Senatorial seat and deliver overwhelming support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates.
