INFF: Beyond Globalization, Domesticating SDGs Funding,

BY ABUBAKAR YUSUF

No doubt the 2020-2030 Agenda is on course, with four years away into realizing the decades of action, therefore to overcome funding constraints of the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs, the launching of the Integrated National Financing Framework, INFF during the previous United Nations General Assembly UNGA program is been domesticated in African countries.

Hence the maiden launch, partnerships convened and consummated with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia on the implementation of the Integrated National Financing Framework ,INFF with gradual spread across other countries is needful.

The high level engagement and strategic interactions between Nigeria and Ethiopia reeled out by Nigeria’s SDGs under the leadership of the Senior Special Assistant to the President, SSAP-SDGS, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire was geared towards advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda,RHA of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu without boarders to other countries across the world.

Having achieved greatly and working tirelessly towards redoubling efforts in the next four years as the bar, no doubt synergising with neighboring countries both far and near is germane.

With funding from the global body , governments, non governmental institutions, public spirited individuals and the private sector through the Private SectorAdvisory Group, PSAG, harnessing other areas of finance towards achieving expected results is capable of resolving both economic, social and recurring issues across countries, using SDGs as an instrument to achieving results.

The exchange, organised in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, European Union, EU underscored Nigeria’s growing leadership in implementing the INFF , highlighted the country’s experience as a model for other African nations seeking to strengthen domestic resource mobilisation, improve public financial management and attract private investment for national development.

Nonetheless, the attractions of sub-nationals particularly state governments through their accounting officers including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT underscores the determination and importance of inculcating the new order in all areas and beyond the continent, through strengthening of fiscal policies.

The desire of Nigeria’s SDGs through INFF advancement of needed funds for the state governments responsible for delivering critical public services, including Primary Healthcare, Basic Education, Water Supply, Sanitation, Agriculture, Infrastructure and Local Economy and Services, making it stronger state-level financing systems indispensable with national interventions.

“According to SDGs leadership in Nigeria, the Integrated National Financing Framework, INFF provides governments with a comprehensive platform for coordinating domestic resource mobilisation, improving expenditure efficiency, strengthening public financial management, attracting private-sector investment and deploying innovative financing mechanisms. ”

“The INFF recognises that achieving sustainable development cannot rely solely on traditional public financing,” she said.

“Strengthening fiscal capacity at the sub-national level is not merely a technical exercise; it is a strategic imperative.”

The partnerships in line with the promises of Nigeria’s SDGs leadership to redirect and rejig the program in line with the prevailing situation locally and internationally, through adequate funding and the nearing timeline, deploying the INFF formula.

Therefore, the commendation from both local and international institutions including Nigerian government to SDGs, enabling a transformative framework capable of not only improving socio-economic development, but fiscal capacity of countries.

With the Ethiopia’s willingness and determination through the participation in the three day high level program among others, no doubt funding constraints both local and domestic will become a thing of the past in preparation towards the realization of the 2020-2030 Agenda.
