Just In: Umahi, Ndume, Barau Step Down, As Akpabio Set To Emerge Senate President

By Charles Ebube – Abuja

There are indications that the Senator-elect for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, Senator Godswill Akpabio may emerge as a consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress following the withdrawal of three Senators who have also vowed to work towards his emergence.

Rising from a meeting hosted by the Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Dave Umahi in Abuja, the three Senators indicated their intention to step down for the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akpabio and adopted him as their consensus candidate.

According to Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State he took the decision to throw his weight behind Senator Akpabio following a meeting with the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who informed him that he was already committed and asked him to go and work with Senator Akpabio.
