Kabba Obadofin Chieftaincy Dispute: Oba Ibinaiye Commends Governor Ododo and Barrister Ozigi for Prompt Intervention
The Ololu Obajemu of Oweland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Ibinaiye, has commended Governor Usman Ododo for his swift intervention in resolving the ongoing dispute over the selection of the new Ololu Obadofin of Oweland, as well as other conflicts within the community.
Speaking with our correspondent at his palace in Kabba, the first-class monarch described the recent meeting held on Monday as a moment for the community to pause and embrace peace.
According to Oba Ibinaiye, the traditions of Oweland are founded on truth and a hierarchical structure that promotes humility, respect, and dignity, not only among the indigenes but also in the way the community interacts with non-indigenes.
He emphasized that the three brothers who originally founded Oweland clearly outlined the protocols for handling matters relating to tradition and culture.
The monarch also expressed his gratitude to the Honorable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Deedat Ozigi, praising his wisdom and effective handling of the situation.
He noted that Barrister Ozigi’s counsel has significantly reduced tensions within the community and appeal for a review of the suspension of Kabba Cultural day and selection of a new Obadofin of Oweland.
In addition, Oba Ibinaiye lauded the efforts of Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd) and other key stakeholders for their roles in facilitating a peaceful resolution to the disputes.
The monarch urged the people of Oweland to continue supporting Governor Ododo’s administration in advancing the state’s development. He also called for the maintenance of peace, law, and order, stressing that meaningful progress can only occur in a stable and harmonious environment.
