In a message that resonated with urgency and compassion, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has called on federal, state, and local governments to intensify efforts toward safeguarding the lives, health, and property of citizens across Nigeria.
The royal appeal was delivered shortly after the Eid-el-Fitr prayers at the Emir’s palace in Nassarawa, Kano, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Addressing a large gathering of faithful and dignitaries, the Emir emphasized the pressing need for leadership that is responsive to the realities faced by ordinary people.
He stressed that it has become imperative for leaders at all levels to carefully consider the living conditions of the populace and prioritize policies that address their most urgent needs. According to him, governance must be people-centered, especially at a time when many Nigerians are grappling with economic challenges.
In his remarks, the Emir also urged citizens to continue praying for their leaders and to maintain goodwill and trust in their leadership. He noted that constructive engagement between the government and the governed remains vital for national progress.
Offering prayers for the nation, the monarch asked Almighty Allah to sustain peace and grant leaders the wisdom and ability to tackle critical issues, particularly insecurity and the rising cost of food and essential commodities—concerns that have significantly impacted daily life.
The Emir expressed appreciation to the Federal Government, members of the National Assembly, and state legislators for their support to citizens during the Ramadan period. He encouraged them to sustain and expand such interventions to cushion the hardships faced by many households.
He also commended Islamic scholars and clerics for their guidance throughout Ramadan, acknowledging their role in promoting truth, moral discipline, and unity within society.
Furthermore, the Emir praised business leaders and wealthy individuals for their contributions and acts of charity during the fasting period. He appealed to traders to ensure that food items and basic goods remain affordable, so that the wider population can benefit.
Extending festive greetings, the Emir congratulated the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, government officials, and the entire Muslim community on the successful completion of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid.
