Kogi 8th Assembly will be committed to the development of the State – Speaker Says

The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf has promised to encouraged and evolved legislations that would enhance the development of the state.
He stated this while contributing to the lead debate on the proposed Kogi State University, Kabba, establishment bill which was transmitted to the House by the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello in a letter in which he urged the house to give it accelerated hearing and passage.
The speaker noted that Governor Bello has shown commitment to developing all sectors of the state through equitable distribution of resources as indicated in the bill, especially in the education sector.
Rt. Hon Umar said establishment of the university will provide the three senatorial districts with state universities, noting that it would also attract other social and economic development to the area where it would be sited and the state in general.
Members, including the Majority leader and other state legislators spoke on the the bill and lauded the Governor for his decision to site the institution in Kabba, Kogi West.
Also debated on the floor of the house was a Bill to Repeal and Re-Enact a Bill on the Prohibition of Kidnapping and Other Related Issues and Matters Connected There with, 2023.
The House also received a letter nominating a replacement for the recently sacked Commissioner for Agriculture in the State for screening and the nominee has been directed to appear before the House on Wednesday, 21st June, 2023 for assessment by the legislators.
