Kogi Assembly Member Emmanuel Obaro Disburses ₦10m Bursary to 100 Students in Yagba East

By Our Correspondent

The member representing Yagba East State Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Obaro, has disbursed ₦10 million in bursary assistance to 100 students from the constituency as part of efforts to support education and ease the financial burden on students and their families.

The intervention, which forms part of Obaro’s commitment to human capital development, saw each of the 100 beneficiaries receive ₦100,000, bringing the total value of the bursary scheme to ₦10 million.

Obaro, who is also the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Yagba East, was commended by beneficiaries and stakeholders for prioritising education and investing directly in the future of young people in the constituency.

The bursary initiative is coming at a time when the cost of tertiary education has continued to place considerable financial pressure on students and parents, with beneficiaries expected to use the support to meet some of their academic and educational needs.

Speaking on the initiative, stakeholders described the gesture as a demonstration of people-oriented representation, noting that educational support remains one of the most effective ways of empowering young people and strengthening the future of the community.

The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to Hon. Obaro for the intervention, saying the ₦100,000 each would provide meaningful assistance toward their educational expenses.
They also praised the lawmaker for what they described as a practical demonstration of concern for the welfare of students across Yagba East.

The initiative further underscores Obaro’s emphasis on human capital development as an important component of his representation, with supporters describing the bursary scheme as an investment in the next generation of professionals and leaders from Yagba East.

The beneficiaries pledged to make judicious use of the financial support and remain committed to their studies, while expressing optimism that similar educational interventions would continue in the constituency.

As the APC candidate in the forthcoming political contest in Yagba East, Obaro’s supporters said the bursary scheme reflects his commitment to strengthening the capacity of young people and ensuring that financial challenges do not become an insurmountable barrier to education.

The 100 beneficiaries were selected from the 10 wards that make up of the Constituency, 10 candidates from each of the political wards, the ₦10 million bursary is not merely financial assistance; it is a tangible investment in their educational aspirations and future.
