Kogi Assembly Screens, Confirms Yakubu Adabanege as Auditor General for Local Gov’t

Kogi State House of Assembly has screened and duly confirmed, the appointment of Hon. Siyaka Yakubu Adabanege as the Auditor General for Local Government in the State.
The screening process which took place at the Assembly Complex today in Lokoja was well attended by the various house members who spoke in favour of Hon. Saiyaka Yakubu Adabenege, his antecedents and why he should be endorsed without waits.

After due consideration and cross-examination by Honourable Members, the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, yielded to the request of the assembly member representing Okehi Constituency, Hon. Zakari Alhassan Otokiti who moved a motion that Hon. Siyaka Yakubu Adabenege should take a bow and go as a result of his impeccable professional and political track records.
Some of the members who spoke, highlighted Hon. Yakubu’s impeccable records of stewardship, noble character and dedication to service over the years and why he was suitable for the position.
Representatives from different local governments in Kogi State, equally voiced their support for him and emphasised more on his competence and integrity.
Also, members who had spoken earlier urged the Rt. Hon. Speaker to consider his track record and afford the appointee the opportunity to immediately assume his new role without any further delay.
In response to the pleas, the Kogi State House of Assembly Speaker, addressed Hon. Yakubu directly, advising him to be focused and not to be partisan in his new office. And to remain professional and bring to bear his experience and expertise in order to effectively manage and audit the finances of the local governments in the State efficiently.
Speaking further, the Speaker congratulated Hon. Yakubu on his appointment, acknowledging that it was well-deserved, pinpointing the importance of maintaining good character, which played a significant role in qualifying him for the appointment by Governor Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State.
He brought to remembrance, the respect Hon. Yakubu had earned from both the State House of Assembly and the people of Kogi State in general.
