According to the speaker, the sacrifices of the country’s past heroes to ensure the nation gained her independence cannot be overemphasized, given its significance to present-day Kogi State.

Rt Hon Yusuf, who said Kogi played significant roles in ensuring the attainment of self-government for Nigeria, particularly mentioned that the state’s geographical placement had a significant contribution to the efforts of those who fought for the attainment of nationhood for the country.

He therefore used the occasion to congratulate the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and other members of the state Executive Council on the occasion of the nation’s independence.

The speaker, who also extended his congratulatory message to all citizens of the state, appealed for their continued support and prayers for the government at all times, to ensure peace, progress, and development across all sectors.

He enjoined them to come together in unity and love for one another to build the Kogi State that would play a significant role in the development of the country.
