Kogi Assembly Speaker celebrates citizens on Nigeria’s 63rd Independence

The speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf has felicitated Nigerians, particularly citizens of the state on the occasion of the country’s sixty-third Independence Anniversary.
In a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mohammed Mohammed, the Speaker charged the people of the state to cherish the occasion as it marked the attainment of nationhood in the country.
According to the speaker, the sacrifices of the country’s past heroes to ensure the nation gained her independence cannot be overemphasized, given its significance to present-day Kogi State.
Rt Hon Yusuf, who said Kogi played significant roles in ensuring the attainment of self-government for Nigeria, particularly mentioned that the state’s geographical placement had a significant contribution to the efforts of those who fought for the attainment of nationhood for the country.
He therefore used the occasion to congratulate the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and other members of the state Executive Council on the occasion of the nation’s independence.
The speaker, who also extended his congratulatory message to all citizens of the state, appealed for their continued support and prayers for the government at all times, to ensure peace, progress, and development across all sectors.
He enjoined them to come together in unity and love for one another to build the Kogi State that would play a significant role in the development of the country.
