Kogi Deputy Gov Urges Indigenous Entertainers to Promote State’s Peace, Unity

Indigenous entertainers in the state have been called upon to intensify their efforts in advocating for the peace and unity of the people of Kogi State.

The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu, gave the message during a meeting with the Convener of the AttahVille Festival, Mr. Hyacinth Onekutu, popularly known as Igala Cowboy, at his official residence in Lokoja on Friday. He emphasized that all the different ethnic groups that makeup the state are one united and inseparable people bounded by love, and no force can divide them.

He stated, “In all honesty, Kogi stands as one entity, regardless of the machinations of those against the state,” encouraging the entertainment sector to continue in advocating for peace and harmony.

Comrade Joel Salifu highlighted Governor Ododo’s unshakable commitment and significant progress made in the state within a year. He emphasized that the Chief Servant of the state is resolute and undeterred in fulfilling his obligations, urging critics to direct their attention elsewhere and channel their frustrations positively.

He praised the governor’s endorsement and support of the entertainment industry, promising continued backing for their Festival to flourish, while urging them to collaborate with relevant government bodies and stakeholders to ensure the 2025 edition of their festival is a remarkable success.

In his earlier statements, the Convener of the AttahVille Festival, Mr. Hyacinth Onekutu, mentioned that their visit was aimed at securing government support for the 2025 edition of the AttahVille Festival in Kogi State. He explained that the festival idea was conceived a few years ago with the objective of uniting people from various tribes in the state to shocase their rich cultural heritage, aligning with the current administration’s vision of fostering a united and harmonious people in Kogi State.

He expressed gratitude to the state government for its assistance during the inaugural festival held in 2024, while requesting increased support for the upcoming edition.
