PRESS STATEMENT

KOGI EAST APC DEBUNKS THE RUMOR MAKING ROUNDS THAT THEY HAVE SETTLED FOR THE OPPOSITION PARTY GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE

…PLEDGES LOYALTY TO THE CANDIDACY OF ALHAJI USMAN ODODO

1. Our attention has been drawn to a questionable press conference by some selfish Element within our dear Kogi East who claimed to be stakeholders and have spoken on behalf of the Kogi East APC during which they attacked Governor Yahaya Bello on many subjects ranging from his choice of Alhj. Usman Ododo as the Governorship candidate of our dear party, the APC, and as well claimed that they have endorsed an opposition candidate for the November election.

2. The question on the mind of every member of the party is, of what benefit are we going to support the opposition party after delivering the Presidential candidate, the Senate, the three House of Representatives, and the eight out-of-Ten House of Assembly members in the immediate past election in the zone? No one after working for the victory of the party would want to be in opposition. No one in his right frame of mind would buy the idea of supporting some self-serving political interest masquerading as an advocate of an ethnic Agenda.

3. Given this, It is germane to state here unequivocally without mincing words that the entire Nine Local Government APC structure in Kogi East alongside the Ward Executives is in support of the party’s Governorship Candidate, Alhaji Usman Ododo and we would work assiduously to ensure that he emerged at the poll come November 2023.

4. Having benefited from the purposeful and pragmatic leadership of His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello in which our party has recorded tremendous success over time, the Kogi East APC will not take the last seat on the journey to consolidate the current gains of the GYB-led Administration and as well to deliver the candidate of the party in the forthcoming election. We will not betray or circumvent the process necessary to deliver our incoming Governor of Kogi State.

5. We would not overlook a situation in which some selfish politicians and their cronies will throw fire to the roof of the party just because they feel they lack what it takes to clinch the party’s Governorship ticket. Kogi APC is one united family and the detribalized nature of the Governor has built the party to the point of creating a strong platform for equity, competence, and capacity. Never again shall selfish, self-serving, and desperate politicians use ethnicity as a fountain to positions in our dear state. We stand solidly with the Party and its candidate and we would leave no stone unturned until Alhaji Usman Ododo is declared the winner.

Long Live the APC

Long Live Kogi State

God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria

Signed:

Hon. Mohammed Nasir Alfa

APC Zonal Chairman

Kogi East
