Kogi Former speaker, Matthew Kolawole urges new council chairmen to align with Gov Ododo’s Policies and Programs

The immediate past Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Mathew Kolawole, has appealed to the newly elected Council Chairmen to align their programmes and policies with those of Governor Ahmed Ododo to meet the expectations of the grassroots.

In a statement issued to newsmen in Lokoja on Friday, Prince Kolawole congratulated the elected Chairmen from the West Senatorial District on their successful assumption of office, describing their emergence as a reflection of the people’s wishes.

He stated that the victory of the Council Chairmen was well-deserved and urged them to emulate the footsteps of Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo, who he explained has become a household name in the hearts of the Kogi people.

Prince Kolawole called on the Council Chairmen to work diligently to justify the confidence reposed in them by their constituents, emphasising that the people of Kogi West are unique, and as Chairmen, they must strive to address their yearnings and aspirations.

In his words, the former Speaker remarked: “For the Council Chairman of Ijumu LGA, Alhaji Haruna Ibrahim, you have always made the success of all the endeavours assigned to you, privately and now in politics. I have every iota of conviction that the sun of development has risen for the people of Ijumu LGA.”

He continued, “For us in Kabba/Bunu LGA, Barr. Zacchaeus Dare Michael is a household name known for bringing passion and dedication to achieve results. You are a goal-getter. You have done it before, and I hold you in high esteem that the confidence reposed in you by our people would be justified.”

Regarding the Council Chairman of Kogi LGA, Hon. Musa Abdulmalik, Kolawole expressed, “The yearning and aspirations of the people for your administration are high. This enormous expectation can be surpassed if you bring in your wealth of experience. Go and make our party and the people of Kogi LGA proud.”

He concluded, “To whom much is given, so much is expected. For Comr. Abdullahi Adamu, Chairman of Lokoja LGA, as Caretaker Chairman, you met the people’s expectations, which is why you had a seamless election. Your Midas touch will be needed to put smiles on the faces of the people. I want to say that with you, I can go to sleep with the hope that your trajectory will once again come into play in the deliverables.”

“For the people of Mopa Muro LGA, the emergence of Hon. Ademola Bello as Chairman is the breaking of a new day. I call on the people of the local government to join hands with him in building a virile Mopa Muro LGA,” he stated.

He emphasised that Yagba East LGA is in safe hands with Hon. Joshua Dare Monday as Chairman, saying, “I congratulate you on your well-deserved victory. Do us proud in our attestation of your can-do spirit. With humility, you made success in your past endeavours. I’m absolutely confident that the same would be witnessed in Yagba East LGA.”

Regarding Yagba West LGA, Kolawole noted, “Hon. Olokun Tosin as Chairman would certainly do well. I congratulate you and pray for you to succeed. I have followed your antecedents over the years and am bold to say that Yagba West is in safe hands. I congratulate you on your assumption of office.”
