Kogi Government Launches Anti-Fraud Awareness Campus Tour – Ready to Sensitize the Youth on Fraud Related Vices
The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Fraud and Internet Matters has announced the commencement of the Kogi Anti-Fraud Awareness Campus Tour, a public education programme designed to address the growing concern over fraudulent practices among young people.
The initiative is being led by Hon. Oluseyi Kelvin Eleta, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Fraud and Internet Matters, under the administration of His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.
The Campus Tour is being implemented in collaboration with two key partners. These are Hon. Munirat Bint Ibrahim, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Entrepreneurship, and Hon. Clement Daudu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Private Education Institutions. Their offices are supporting the coordination and outreach aspects of the programme, particularly in strengthening engagement with students and youth groups across institutions.

The Campus Tour is planned as a series of engagements within universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education in the state. Students will have the opportunity to take part in open discussions, lectures, and interactive sessions that address the dangers and legal consequences of internet fraud. The programme will also guide young people toward productive alternatives and lawful opportunities in the digital space.
According to Hon. Eleta, the campaign is built on the belief that prevention through education remains one of the most reliable ways to address fraud. He explained that many young people are exposed to misleading narratives that present internet crime as an easy path to wealth. The tour therefore seeks to correct such views by presenting the legal, social, and economic consequences of fraud.
The initiative will bring together law enforcement officers, legal practitioners, technology professionals, and public policy experts who will speak directly with students. Their participation will help provide a clear understanding of cyber laws, the risks associated with online crime, and the importance of ethical conduct in the digital economy.
The programme will also encourage students to take part in building a culture that values honesty and responsible innovation. Organisers believe that institutions of higher learning remain important centres for shaping the attitudes and decisions of young citizens.
The Kogi Anti-Fraud Awareness Campus Tour is expected to run in phases, reaching major tertiary institutions across the state. Through this effort, the Office of the Senior Special Assistant on Fraud and Internet Matters hopes to promote awareness, encourage lawful conduct, and strengthen the shared responsibility of government, institutions, and young people in addressing fraud.
