Kogi Guber: Senator Smart Allegedly Abandons Kogi West Agenda, Team up with SDP candidate,
…It is a lie – Adeyemi’s Aide
By Muhammad Amuda – Lokoja
The political atmosphere in Kogi state ahead of the November 11 Governorship election is becoming interesting as political gladiators in the state are already aligning themselves with different parties where they assume their political interest would be catered for.
The last may not have been seen as the immediate past senator who represented Kogi West that went to court to challenge the conduct of the APC Governorship primary, has allegedly sent his close political associates to join the campaign council of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in case the outcome of court case does not favour him.
According to the list of the SDP Campaign Council released yesterday, a strong follower of Senator Smart Adeyemi, former Executive Chairman of Ijumu local government area, Hon. Fehinti Dada who is known for his serial ways of jumping from one political party to another was named the Zonal Deputy Director in charge of Kogi West while the purported Chief Adeyemi as the zonal chairman is not a known name but some political analysts are of the views that it might be the senator himself pending the pronouncement of the court of Appeal in Abuja before he takes his final step.
With the latest development, Senator Smart Adeyemi seem to have abandoned his agitation for power shift to the west with his new love with Muritala Ajaka who seems to be making waves across Kogi East senatorial district, maybe Senator Adeyemi will be able to muster the needed 25% from the 7 local government areas that make up Kogi West for the SDP to win the election.
Information available also confirmed that his Personal Assistant (home) Taiye Ikupeleye may have also moved to the SDP with few of his followers while majority of them said they preferred to remain in the ruling All Progressive Congress to support the party’s candidate, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman in the election.
Meanwhile, in a swift reaction, one of the aides to the Senator, Kayode Olorunmotito said the quest of his boss for Kogi West to be Governor remain sacrosanct and nothing will change his mind because it is for fairness, equity and justice, as such he is not ready to abandon the agitation at this critical stage.
He noted that If he refused to take up appointment as a Minister because of his people, what would he stands to gain in SDP after much efforts and investment in APC?
He further opined that the Senator’s case is already pending at Appeal Court waiting for judgement which he believes will be favourable to them.
He emphasized that there was no governorship primary conducted for the APC in Kogi state, stressing that it is the outcome of the Appeal Court judgement that will determine their next line of actions.
He also noted that Hon. Fehinti Dada is an adult that is old enough to decide for himself and his decision has nothing to do with that of Senator Smart Adeyemi, pointed out it is too late for the former lawmaker to abandon his party.
Kayode said his boss is a highly principled Man who always matched his words with actions.
“I know too well that Kogi State will be in a better hand with DSSA victory at the end of the ruling”
