Kogi Police Commissioner Intervenes in Community Fishing Pond Dispute
The Kogi State Police Command has successfully brokered a peace agreement between Itale and Ishi communities in Ibaji Local Government Area, following a dispute over a fishing pond and land.
The strategic peace meeting, organized by Commissioner of Police Naziru Bello Kankarofi, aimed to prevent escalating tensions and potential violence between the communities.
The meeting was prompted by concerns that youths from both sides might take matters into their own hands while the case is pending in the Upper Area Court Idah.
Both communities have agreed to maintain peace and allow the court to determine the outcome.
CSP William Ovye Aya, Police Public Relations Officer, emphasized the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in the state.
The police command’s efforts have successfully brought temporary peace to the area, pending the court’s decision. 🕊️
