Kogi Security Adviser, Jerry Omodara, Calls for Collective Efforts in Fighting Insecurity

The State Security Adviser to Kogi State Government, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), has called on general public in the State to rise up and support the State government efforts towards fighting banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of criminality in the state.

Jerry Omodara made the call while speaking to pressmen in Lokoja on Sunday, 23rd February, 2025.

He maintained that security is everyone’s responsibility, noting that ‘security cannot be left alone for the government, and that every patriotic citizen must be involved in securing the life his fellow Nigerians’.

He urged the general public to report any movement by individual or strangers suspected to be assisting criminals in the hideouts. In his words, ‘If you see anybody suspected to be carrying foods or other materials to the bush, that person must be reported to the appropriate authorities for necessary and immediate action’. He said.

He added that there are people who are benefiting the insecurity being faced by Nigeria and Nigerians, and that we must collectively fight and bring them to an end.

He said that bandits come from homes, with mothers and fathers; they did not drop from heaven, adding that the current insecurity in the nation was due to negligence of family values.

“As parents and caregivers, we have neglected our duties and family values, everybody is busy, both father and mother, just to get the good things of life. So I believe that we all have a role to play,” he said.

Jerry Omodara described the cooperation and synergy among the governors towards addressing insecurity in the north-central Nigeria as top notch. He commended the governor’s working together initiative at addressing security challenges in their respective States with emphasis on synergising at their border areas.

However, the security chief also called on security agencies in the State to remain loyal and committed to their constitutional responsibilities as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, while lauding their resilience and sacrifices so far.
