In a significant display of honor and commitment to infrastructural development, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has granted approval for the immediate rehabilitation of the Asaya-Ayere Road in Ijumu Local Government Area. This decision comes as a fulfillment of the promise made during the Ayere Day celebration in 2025 to the Asiwaju of Ayere Kingdom, Prince Olatunji Olusoji, ensuring the improvement of the road for the benefit of the community.
A technical team from the Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA) has conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the road in readiness for the upcoming construction work. The project is anticipated to significantly enhance connectivity between rural communities, facilitate the movement of people and goods, bolster local commerce, and provide better access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and agricultural markets across the Ijumu Local Government Area.
The delegation from KOGROMA was warmly welcomed by the Chairman of Ijumu Local Government, Alhaji Haruna Ibrahim, who expressed profound gratitude to Governor Ododo for his unwavering dedication to improving living conditions in Kogi State and advancing infrastructural development. The Chairman emphasized that the road’s rehabilitation would not only reduce travel time and vehicle maintenance costs but also enhance security, create economic opportunities, and foster grassroots development.

Residents of Ijumu Local Government have eagerly embraced the project, considering it long overdue and a testament to responsible leadership. They commended both Governor Ododo and the Local Government Chairman for prioritizing their welfare and addressing vital infrastructural needs.
Speaking during the visit, Senior Special Adviser to the Governor, Hon Femi Esemikose Arsenal, encouraged beneficiaries of the road project to remain patient and supportive, assuring them of continued developmental projects and democratic dividends reaching Ijumu and other parts of the state.
The KOGROMA team, led by its Managing Director, Engr Dr. Yunusa Alhassan, assured community leaders of the timely arrival of construction equipment and stressed the importance of community cooperation for the successful execution of the project. The rehabilitation work will encompass suitable drainage systems, surface improvements, and durability measures to ensure the road’s longevity and efficiency for years to come.
