Kogi State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd) Receives Democracy Newsline Newspaper Leadership Award

The Kogi State Security Adviser, a retired Navy Officer but not tired, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd) has received the prestigious Democracy Newsline Newspaper Leadership Award for the Year 2024.

The award was presented at a well-attended public lecture and award ceremony held on October 9th, 2024 at the Banquet Hall of the Merit House Maitama, Abuja.

The event marked the fourteenth anniversary of the media outlet and the sixty-fourth anniversary of Nigeria’s political independence.

Chief Olugbemi Femi, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Michabifem Ventures Limited, the publisher of Democracy Newsline/blog, emphasized the opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the talents, achievements, and contributions of individuals and organizations who have excelled in their respective fields.

He highlighted the remarkable achievements of Commander Omodara (rtd) particularly in coordinating the security apparatus by providing the right leadership to achieve success in the security sector of the state hence his recognition with Leadership Award for 2024.

During the event, Dr. Tunde Arosoyin, the National Coordinator of Zero Hunger Nigeria, delivered a presentation on the role of social media in the development of the agriculture sector, emphasizing the critical roles social media can play in boosting food supply chains on the continent.

He stressed the need for Nigerians to engage in mechanized farming to address hunger challenges in Africa.

Additionally, Comrade Bala Ibrahim, a retired journalist from the BBC, delivered a presentation titled “Nigeria and the Personal Perspective in Politics,” quoting W.H. Auden, a British-American poet, to underscore the public’s tendency to scrutinize leaders’ actions. He called on leaders to be exceptionally careful to maintain public trust and confidence.

The award was received by his wife, Mrs Omodara who represented at the event and expressed his gratitude for the award and reiterated his commitment to initiatives that will continue to make Kogi State safe and secure.

Other notable recipients of special recognition awards included His Excellency, Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago, the Executive Governor of Niger State, and several other prominent individuals in various fields.
