Kogi West: 50 Cooperative Societies Benefit from Senator Sunday Karimi’s 100m Empowerment Initiatives

The Senator representing Kogi West at the National Assembly and Senate Committee Chairman on Senate Services, Senator Sunday Karimi, has launched an empowerment initiative for the female folks, distributing a total of N100 million to empower 50 women-led small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) cooperative societies in Kogi West. Each cooperative has received N2 million to support their entrepreneurial ventures, aimed at fostering economic growth and self-sufficiency among local women.

According to the program’s coordinator, Hon. Mrs. Bolanle Amupitan, out of the 50 cooperatives selected, 43 have already been credited with their funds, while the remaining seven will receive their grants after submitting their account details.

During the distribution, Senator Karimi highlighted the significant impact this project is expected to have on the recipients’ lives and businesses.

He urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds effectively, ensuring that the financial support leads to meaningful improvements in their enterprises and personal well-being.

The beneficiaries expressed their deep gratitude and happiness, noting that this is the first initiative of its kind in Kogi West to provide such substantial support to women-led cooperatives.

They praised Senator Karimi for his commitment to their welfare and thanked Mrs. Stella Maris Karimi for her dedicated efforts in representing their interests. They acknowledged her role in ensuring they are empowered and supported, making sure they are not left behind in her husband’s empowerment efforts.

They prayed for Mrs. Karimi, asking that God continue to preserve her and her family from harm. They expressed their belief that the initiative will have a lasting impact, promoting gender equality, economic empowerment, and sustainable growth throughout the constituency.

Hon. Mrs. Amupitan also underscored the program’s objectives, recalling the senator’s campaign promise to empower women through governance and cooperative societies. Mrs. Karimi’s unwavering commitment to women’s inclusiveness and empowerment is evident in her pledge to allocate a certain percentage of resources towards lifting Kogi West women out of poverty through cooperative societies.

The initiative aims to cultivate self-reliance among women in senatorial district, reducing their dependency on their spouses and equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in business. With the promise of ongoing support and potential for further access to funding, the women pledged their unwavering support for Senator Karimi’s leadership, confident that this initiative will bring about meaningful and lasting change in their lives and their community.
