KOSU Pioneer Students Play Big at Kogi Innovation Hackathon, Win ₦1.5m
Students of the Department of Computer Science, Kogi State University, Kabba (KOSU), have emerged runners-up at the 2026 Kogi Innovation Hackathon (KINHACK), organised by the Kogi Innovation Hub (KINHUB), winning a cash prize of ₦1.5 million.
The students, Joshua Bamidele Emanuel and Wokili Aishat Orewa of the 400 level pioneer students of the University and represented KOSU at the innovation competition, which brought together young innovators to develop technology-driven solutions to contemporary challenges.
Their outstanding performance has further demonstrated the innovative capacity and competitive potential of students of Kogi State University, Kabba, particularly in the areas of computer science and emerging technologies.
The University Management has expressed delight at the students’ achievement, noting that their success reflects the growing culture of innovation, creativity and practical technological skills being encouraged among students of the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor K.I.T. Eniola, commended the students for representing the University creditably at the competition, describing their achievement as encouraging evidence of the quality and potential of the University’s students.
Professor Eniola also appreciated the hard work and commitment of lecturers in the Department of Computer Science towards raising professionals who are globally competitive and capable of contributing meaningfully to the innovation and technology ecosystem.
The achievement further underscores the University’s commitment to developing innovative and future-ready graduates equipped with the knowledge and practical skills required to compete effectively in an increasingly technology-driven world.
