KSU Kabba Shines As Applications Exceed Admission Quota in Three Days

Justification for the establishment of a third state university came rather too early as application into the advertised programs exceed quota given by the National Universities Commission NUC for the take off.

In a chat with newsmen in Kabba, the Public Relations Officer of the University, Mr Tade Oshaloto, hinted that the admissions office had received numerous applications into the 25 BSc programmes advertised by the institution.

Quoting the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof KIT Eniola, the PRO stated that about one thousand candidates are at different stages of their applications in just three days of advertisement.

He added that the management of the institution are making efforts to expand the quota so as to be able to accommodate more qualified candidates who, despite being qualified for their choice disciplines, are unable to secure admission due solely to limited carrying capacity of existing universities in the country.

He said that the decision of the Governor Yahaya Bello-led administration to create another university despite the hue and cries of naysayers has been promptly justified by the rush.

When asked about the readiness of the institution to commence academic activities, the PRO said that the management of the school under the leadership of it’s Vice Chancellor Prof KIT Eniola, is poised to making the most of the generous commitments of Governor Yahaya Bello, and the support of friends and well wishers of the new university.

According to him, over a hundred applicants have successfully applied to Mass communication while the number in Microbiology, which is the forte of the VC, and Computer Science are almost as high.

According to him, Business Administration and Political Science are trailing closely.

He urged parents and educators to guide candidates to pick other cognate programmes as alternatives to these oversubscribed ones.

The NUC earlier in the month gave a nod to the university to enroll 500 candidates at takeoff.
