Kwara Police Command confirm gruesome Murder of A Lady by Facebook lover

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the gruesome killing of Yetunde Lawal by a boyfriend she met on Facebook.

The confirmation was contained in a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, in Ilorin on Saturday.

Yetunde was reportedly a final-year student of Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin.

She had been declared missing before her father, Mr. Ibrahim Lawal, reported the case at C Division, Oja-Oba. Officers launched an investigation, tracked her phone number, arrested a suspect, and recovered evidence.

“The Kwara Police Command is aware of the gruesome killing of one Miss Yetunde H. Lawal. On 11/02/2025 at about 1800 hours, a case of a missing person was reported at C Division, Oja-Oba, by her father, Mr. Ibrahim A. Lawal. Immediately, the police detectives swung into action, tracked her number, and arrested a suspect. Exhibits were recovered,” the statement read.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

The statement added that additional updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

An Islamic cleric, Abdulrahman Mohad Ballo, has been arrested in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, for allegedly killing a final-year student of the Kwara State College of Education, Yetunde Lawal, for ritual purposes.

The suspect reportedly lured Yetunde after connecting with her on Facebook and obtaining her phone number.

The incident reportedly occurred on Monday, February 10, 2025.

Hafsoh was at a naming ceremony when she received a phone call from a friend. She then disappeared after leaving her food at the ceremony to answer the call.

After searching for her in vain, family members and friends led by the deceased’s father, Mr. Ibrahim A. Lawal, lodged a report at the Oja Oba Police Station. C Division, in Ilorin the following day.
