LEGAL PRACTITIONER SUES LOKOJA APC CHAIRMAN OVER ALLEGED ILLEGAL SUSPENSION OF PARTY MEMBERS

LOKOJA — A legal practitioner based in Lokoja, MD Adoga, Esq., has dragged the Lokoja Local Government Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to court over the alleged illegal suspension of party members, including Talba Lakwaja and others.

The suspended members were reportedly punished for attending a townhall meeting organized by Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District.
In the suit filed before a Lokoja High Court, the plaintiff is challenging the validity of the suspension and is demanding the immediate retraction of the suspension announcement and the reversal of all actions taken against the affected party members*.
According to the statement of claim, the suspension was carried out without due process and in violation of the APC Constitution.
The plaintiff argued that attending a townhall meeting convened by a serving senator, who is a member of the same party, does not constitute an anti-party activity warranting disciplinary action.
No date has yet been fixed for the hearing of the case.
Party stakeholders in Lokoja have described the development as an internal matter that should be resolved in the interest of party unity ahead of future elections.
Efforts to reach the Lokoja APC Chairman for comment were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
