Lower Niger River Basin Leadership Pays Courtesy Visit to Emir of Ilorin, Seeks Royal Blessings and Stronger Community Ties

The newly appointed leadership of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority (LNRBDA) has paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, to seek royal blessings and reaffirm their commitment to grassroots development and sustainable water resource management.
The high-powered delegation included the Managing Director, Engr. George Olumoroti; Chairman, Alh. Abdullateef Alakawa; Executive Director of Agricultural Services, Hon. Abdullahi Sadiq; and Executive Director of Planning and Design, Engr. Alanamu Ayinla Abolere.
In his address, Engr. Olumoroti expressed deep respect for the Ilorin Emirate and praised the Emir’s legacy of peace, unity, and cultural advancement. He emphasised the role of traditional institutions in achieving meaningful development and community mobilisation, stating that the Authority would continue to operate with transparency, accountability, and alignment with the needs of host communities.
“We are here in humility to pay homage to this revered throne in the ancient and noble city of Ilorin and to seek Your Royal Highness’ blessings, guidance, and support as we pursue our mandate,” Olumoroti said.
He further acknowledged the Emirate’s long-standing support for LNRBDA’s operations and reaffirmed the Authority’s dedication to the prompt and effective delivery of ongoing projects across the region.
“Under my stewardship, the Authority shall continue to uphold the cultural and traditional values of our host communities, align our projects with the aspirations of the people, and safeguard the environment for future generations,” he added.
The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, warmly received the delegation and applauded their recognition of the role of traditional institutions in public service. He assured them of his continued support and offered royal prayers for the success of their leadership.
The visit concluded with mutual goodwill and a renewed commitment to collaborative development between LNRBDA and the Ilorin Emirate.
