MANGAL INDUSTRIES LTD SIGNS 5-YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT WITH EKINRIN-ADDE COMMUNITY
Company Pledges Jobs, Infrastructure, Scholarships as Part of CSR

Mangal Industries Ltd has signed a 5yrs Community Development Agreement, CDA, with the Ekinrin-Adde community in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, in a move aimed at strengthening ties and ensuring mutual benefits between the company and its host community.

The agreement was signed on Thursday at Odoniun Event Centre in Ekinrin-Adde. It outlines Mangal Industries’ commitment to execute key projects and empowerment programmes in the community as part of its Community Development Agreement.
Speaking at the event, Engr. Adamu Ma’aji, GM – Engineering & Technical, Mangal Industries Ltd, said the CDA was designed to ensure that the community directly benefits from the company’s operations in the area.
He said the company pledged to prioritize the employment of indigenes, the award of contracts to local vendors, the provision of scholarships for indigent students, and support for healthcare and infrastructure development.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Dr. Umar Musa, General Manager of Administration and Human Resources, Mangal Industries Ltd, said the company organized the CDA signing with the host community. Dr. Musa explained that the agreement between Mangal Industries and the community is binding for the next five years. He noted that both parties are aligned and committed to ensuring that every item and provision contained in the document will be respected and implemented.
He added that the company is focused on creating a peaceful work environment and ensuring efficient staffing as promised to the community. According to him, the goal is for the people to feel the direct impact of the company’s presence, even in areas outside the immediate project site.
“We need to attend to these issues, understand them, and ensure the community sees the importance of investors coming here to do business,” he said.
In his remarks, the Olu Adde of Ekinrin-Adde, Oba Anthony Bamigbaiye Idowu, described the signing of the CDA with Mangal Industries Ltd as a good omen for the progress of the community. The monarch said the agreement marks the beginning of a new chapter of development and assured that Ekinrin-Adde will honor its own part of the bargain. He emphasized that the community will provide unhindered access to the company’s site and guarantee the full support needed for smooth operations.
Oba Bamigbaiye, however, noted that the community is already looking beyond the CDA, stressing that Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, is even more important to the people. According to him, the people stand to benefit more from CSR initiatives, which will complement the provisions in the agreement. The traditional ruler expressed joy that what he heard while growing up that marble deposits exist in Ekinrin-Adde has come to fruition during his reign.
“I am glad that in my time as the Olu Adde of Ekinrin-Adde, the marble in our land is now coming to fruition for the benefit of our people,” he said.
Oba Bamigbaiye commended Mangal Industries for formalizing its relationship with the community through a written agreement.
He described the CDA as a “new dawn” for Ekinrin-Adde and urged the company to ensure full implementation of all the terms contained in the document.
“We appreciate Mangal Industries for this gesture. This agreement will bring development, jobs, and prosperity to our people. We will also do our part to ensure peace and a conducive environment for the company to thrive,” the monarch said.
Representing the Honourable Minister of Mines, Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, Engr. Olufemi Olaitan, Environmental Compliance Officer in charge of Kogi State, said the ministry was present on Thursday for the signing of the CDA between Mangal Industries Ltd and Ekinrin-Adde Community. He explained that the agreement is binding for a period of five years, after which it will be reviewed. According to him, the signing marks the end of a negotiation process that involved the company, the community, and the government.
Engr. Olaitan stated that the next phase is the implementation of the terms contained in the document. He noted that both the community and the company have specific roles to play, and that the ministry will monitor to ensure that every item in the agreement is implemented to the letter.
“What is next now is to implement the agreement one after the other. As time goes on we will be monitoring the implementation to ensure that whatever is in the document is implemented,” he said.
Speaking on the duration of the process, the compliance officer said the Ekinrin-Adde CDA took close to a year to conclude, but noted that it does not have to take that long. He explained that the process involves at least three meetings — a commencement meeting, a negotiation meeting, and a conclusion meeting — and depends largely on the level of understanding between the community, the company, and government.
“Once there is understanding, the process moves faster. But most times, at the end of the conclusion meeting, the document is reviewed and finalized,” he added.
The highlight of the event was the signing of the Community Development Agreement (CDA) by 7 community representatives, including HRM Oba Bamigbade Anthony, CON, the Olu Adde of Ekirin-Adde; Elder Funsho Orisafunmi, Olojo Omofaiye and 4 others.
