Markets In Jos and Bukuru Metropolis Will Soon Wear New Looks

In a bid to get rid of dirts and unhealthy Environments in Jos and Bukuru Metropolis, every Last Thursday of the Month has been set aside for all markets to sanitized their business premises and their surroundings.

The Plateau state Government, through the Plateau State Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) initiated the sanitation day for the traders to clear filthy environments and keep it tidy in order to enjoy transacting business activities.

The Exercise which will be taking place on last Thursday of Every month,began last Month.

A visit to some markets within Jos and Bukuru Metropolis, indicated that traders complied with the directives and were seen clearing drainages,roads and their surroundings,prior to the commencement of the sanitation, awareness was carried out by the Agency via pamphlets, jingles on conventional and social media as well as public announcements around such markets which includes,Gada Biyu, Bukuru,Kugiya,Terminus Tudun Wada,Rukuba road among others.

Plateau state Government has since reintroduced a monthly sanitation exercise that is being observed on Monthly basis with partial compliance from Traders in some of the markets particularly at the Kugiya Market in Jos South Local Government Area.

In order to engaged all and sundry,PEPSA in her wisdom through the General Manager,Mr. Samuel Dapia interfaced with the market leaders and agreed of the methods of engaging the traders and the Thursdays Sanitation was introduced in order to enable traders participate fully in clearing their business areas . This will be preceding the Saturdays End of the month General Sanitation.

The Development which is first of its kind in the state,will go along way in boosting the hygiene and cleanliness of our markets.

The Marketers and their customers are excited with the initiative and express their readiness to fully comply with the directives and failure to do so,stiffer penalties awaits the defaulters.

One of the reasons why the defaulters will not have an excuse is the adequate advocacy,sensitization and awareness that’s being carried out by the Agency.

This development will go along way in strengthening the General Sanitation exercise

The Administration of Governor Caleb Mutfwang,has declared zero tolerance on filthy environments in the state.

Upon Assumption in office,the time is now administration, declared the state of emergency on sanitation.
