MD/CEO, Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority Engr. Olumoroti Embarks on Office and Project Tour

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, Engr. George Olumoroti has commenced a tour of the Authority’s Area and Project Offices.

The tour aims to integrate field officers into the President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda and boost work efficiency.

The MD/CEO was accompanied by the Executive Management team, comprising: Engr. Alanamu Ayinla (Executive Director, Planning and Design), Engr. Babajamu Adeniran (Executive Director, Engineering Services), Hon. Sadiq Abdulahi (Executive Director, Agriculture Services), Director of Agriculture Services, Director of Legal Services, Area Manager and Other staff of the Authority.

According to him, the tour is designed to bring the President’s renewed hope agenda to the field officers, Motivate staff to improve work efficiency and productivity, Conduct on-the-spot assessments and appraise the current situation, Design fit-for-purpose solutions to challenges and propel staff to key into the President’s food security agenda

The Day 1 tour commenced at the Oshin Gada scheme in Oke-Oyi, where the Executive Management Team, toured Phase 1 to Phase 4 of the scheme, Inspected ongoing farming activities and facilities and interacted with over 50 farmers

The MD/CEO also addressed the farmers, enumerating the reasons for the visit, including: Increased food production, Efficient agricultural practices, Modern techniques in farming and Enhanced water resource management practices

The farmers listed their challenges, including collapsed weirs and silted irrigation systems, and pleaded for assistance.

The team later visited the Abati Scheme in Moro LGA of Kwara State, where farmers highlighted their challenges, including: Non-availability of tractors and the need to reconstruct a new weir to replace the damaged one

The MD/CE assured the farmers in the two locations that their requests would receive adequate attention.

The Authority also reiterated its commitment to providing necessary resources and technical assistance to boost food production.

The tour demonstrates the Authority’s dedication under the leadership of Engr. George Olumoroti to continue to support farmers and enhancing agricultural productivity in the region.
