Member suspension: Correspondents’ chapel severe relationship with Kwara Council, Abdulateef Ahmed, Yinka Alaya again

Going by the Congress resolution held on Friday 14th, August 2026, the Correspondents chapel has reverted to severing its relationship with the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ ) over the unlawful suspension of its member and Secretary Mosunmola Ayobami at the National Executive Council meeting held in Jigawa state two weeks ago.

The Congress resolved that until the unlawful suspension is reversed, the chapel members will not attend event organised at the council or treat,use any story emanating from the council and the duo of Abdulateef Ahmed and Yinka Alaya.

The Congress resolved that any member who flouts the Congress resolutions will be sanctioned severely.

Moreover, any member who takes story or invites members to assignment on proxy for the council or the individuals will be sanctioned.
