Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh Praises NDDC, NEDC, and Unveils Expectations for New Commissions
The Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, has lauded the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and North East Development Commission (NEDC) for their outstanding performance, citing their impact as a testament to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Momoh highlighted the NDDC’s achievements, including the completion of the 25.3km Ogbia-Nembe Road in Bayelsa State, the Okitipupa 132KV Transmission Substation in Ondo State, and thousands of solar streetlights and rural electrification projects in Niger Delta communities.
He also commended the NEDC’s massive housing intervention, providing over 700 completed housing units for displaced families in Borno, Yobe, and Taraba States, as well as investments in mega schools, ICT centers, solar boreholes, health facilities, and roads.
According to Momoh, these successes demonstrate that development commissions can drive meaningful change with proper coordination and supervision.
He assured Nigerians that the newly established regional development commissions for the South-East, South-West, North-West, North-Central, and South-South will be structured to replicate and surpass these achievements.
“The NDDC and NEDC have done well. They are testaments to what is possible when vision meets commitment. Nigerians should expect even more from the new development commissions as we strengthen regional integration, expand infrastructure, and empower our people under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Momoh stated.
The Minister reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring every region benefits from development, emphasizing the Ministry’s role in coordinating and monitoring agencies to guarantee transparency, accountability, and tangible results for ordinary Nigerians.
